The Size of the Global Jewellery Market

Fashion and luxury jewellery account for about 17% of apparel spending. Fashion jewellery dominates in terms of value, and is set to grow modestly worldwide except in North America.

Globally, consumers spend around $348.5 billion per year on jewellery – accounting for about 17% of all retail apparel spending. That divides roughly into about $306.8 billion for lower-valued fashion jewellery and $41.6 billion for luxury jewellery featuring precious metals and gemstones.

To put this in context, if the jewellery market were a country it would be the 30th largest country by economic activity – roughly the size of the United Arab Emirates economy1.
