The Size of the Global Footwear Market

The global footwear market is worth $352 billion in sales. Ten countries in Asia, the Americas and Europe dominate sales, and global retail growth is forecast at 3.3%.

The global footwear market is valued at around $352 billion in retail sales or roughly 17 per cent of total apparel spending - about the same amount that is spent on jewellery. 

If the footwear sector were a country, its economy would be just a bit bigger than Hong Kong1

This translates into an annual global consumption that is estimated at between 14.5 billion and 19 billion pairs of shoes per year - or roughly two to two-and-a-half pairs for every person on the planet2
