Female migrant workers in India’s textile capital Bangalore are working in conditions akin to modern slavery, according to this detailed report – which warns that the factories involved are supplying leading global apparel brands.
Published in 2018, the Labour Without Liberty report states that five out of 11 ILO indicators for forced labour exist in the garment industry in the huge southern Indian city, which attracts thousands of migrant workers desperate to escape poverty.
